I've recently discovered that the default GNOME web browser utilizes WebKit, which led me to ponder why WebKit-based browsers are not more prevalent on Linux platforms. While it is evident that a significant portion of the Linux community favors the Gecko engine, there also appears to be a strong aversion to the Chromium monopoly.
As a non-developer, I am curious to understand the reasons behind the scarcity of WebKit browsers in the Linux ecosystem. Could there be technical or other compelling reasons for this trend?
Any insights or information on this matter
