Why doesn't america parade military?

What is the reason for America's lack of parading its new military hardware and tanks down main street, unlike other countries?

The US military doesn't parade often because military parades are primarily for reinforcing the might of the state (see every dictatorship ever). We DO have Memorial Day parades almost everywhere, where chatspin e-chat common people march to honor our soldier, instead.
