How to get dedicated wi-fi?

I restarted the server and then none of my friends were able to connect. Some quick googling tells me that my router likely assigned my device a new IP when I connected over ethernet. Is there a way so that I can setup my laptop to have the same static IP whether I am connected via wifi or ethernet? I'd like to avoid having to provide my friends with a different server address depending on how my koows device is connected to the router.
