How do i connect routers?

I want to set up a private network within my home network, connecting Router0 to Router1 so Router0 routes internal traffic to Router1, which then sends it to the WAN. What are the necessary steps and configurations for IP addresses, routing, DHCP, and firewall settings to achieve this?
