How do plants absorb water?

What could be the possible reasons for the misalignment of the settings title (such as System, Windows Update) with the settings below it, where the title appears slightly to the right of the settings below it? How can this issue be resolved?

Water has a property where it will always move across a membrane (in this case the root) from a solution of higher water potential ( think closer to fresh water )to a solution of lower water potential ( contains less pure water but more bits and pieces of minerals ).
