Has anyone tried GoboLinux recently? I stumbled upon it on Tumblr and found it to be quite distinct from other Linux distributions. Unlike typical setups with directories such as /usr/bin/, /sbin, /lib, GoboLinux organizes each application, its dependencies, and libraries into individual subdirectories, such as /Programs/Gimp/ and /Programs/Openscad/. Nonetheless, it maintains symbolic links to the conventional locations within the OS.
GoboLinux emphasizes the command line and is console-centric, evoking the DYI aesthetic of the late 1990s. I have already downloaded the ISO and experimented with the live version, which struck me as refreshingly different. It reminded me of my first time installing Slackware
echat 3.4 on my 486 box.
Tonight, I plan to wipe out one of the hard drives in my 2009 Mac Pro
koows developerbook and install GoboLinux.
