The emergence of AI has caught me off guard, as I always believed that PC performance would be solely measured in GHz, and that hardware rendering would only continue to become faster. However, with the advent of AI and its applications such as DLSS, I can't help but wonder if it may eventually replace the role of our GPUs. My limited understanding of the topic aside, the fact that AI can now generate "fake" frames between actual frames raises the question: could it one day generate even more? What if the GPU only had to render one frame every second, or even every minute, while AI generates the rest at any desired frame rate?
The prospect of GPUs becoming AIPUs is both intriguing and concerning.
